    The Jharkhand High Court heard a criminal appeal against the conviction of former Ramgarh MLA Mamta Devi in ​​two separate grenade firing cases. During the hearing, the court granted bail to Mamta Devi in ​​the Hazaribagh case, while March 31 was fixed for the hearing in the Ramgarh case.

    The hearing was held in the court of Supreme Court Judge Justice Navneet Kumar at the request of Mamta Devi. Advocate Bhola Nath Ojha argued the case on behalf of the state government.

    Former MLA Mamta Devi was convicted by Ramgarh Civil Court and Hazaribagh Civil Court in two different cases. In one case, he was sentenced to 5 years on 13 December 2022. In the second case, on 4 January 2023, a special court in Hazaribagh sentenced Mamta Devi and BJP leader Rajeev Jaiswal to 2-2 years in the fourth Gola firing case. Both these judgments were challenged and an appeal was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Mamta Devi.

    An appeal was filed in hopes of a reduced sentence. Today's hearing was held in the court of High Court Judge Justice Navneet Kumar. Advocate Bhola Nath Ojha presented the side of the state government. Until the verdict in the Ramgarh case, Mamta Devi will remain in jail. On December 2022, 13 accused including Mamta Devi were sentenced to five years each in Rajrappa Police Station Case Number 79/2016. In the second case, on 4 January 2023, a special court in Hazaribagh sentenced Mamta Devi and BJP leader Rajeev Jaiswal to 2-2 years in the fourth Gola firing case.
